The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a new division on Tuesday night and its inaugural title will be taking place at UFC 208 in Brooklyn, New York on Feb. 11.
After plenty of speculation and rumors about a women’s featherweight division coming to the UFC, it was confirmed by the promotion with a press release on Tuesday prior to tickets going on sale to the public later this week.
The participants in the UFC 208 women’s 145-pound title fight will be former women’s bantamweight champ Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie.

The inaugural women’s featherweight championship will feature two of the best female strikers in mixed martial arts, with Holm being an 18-time boxing champion in three weight classes and de Randamie being a three-time world Muay Thai champ.
UFC 208 takes place at the Barclays Center and will air live on pay-per-view.
The bout was not officially confirmed as the main event, so another title fight could be added soon. Rumors have indicated a featherweight unification bout between Jose Aldo and Max Holloway could be in the cards.
Additional bouts will be announced in the coming days.
