Lane Kiffin was something of a surprise hire by the FAU Owls. He has made a lot of pledges since arriving, not to repeat mistakes, to build a winning culture at FAU, and now he has pledged a donation.
In a letter addressed to the FAU fans on Friday, Kiffin pledged to make a donation to the university scholarship fund for every season ticket package that was purchased.
FAU has struggled mightily with its attendance, and Kiffin is hoping this will spark a little run in season ticket sales.
The final game of the Owls season was attended by fewer than 6,000 people.

Kiffin feels that he can turn FAU into a powerhouse. ”
The potential of this program and the excellence of this university and community is what will make it possible,” Kiffin wrote in his open letter to the fans. “A gentleman familiar to us all, Howard Schnellenberger, phrased it best when he coined it ‘Football in Paradise.'”How long he will stay at the university remains to be seen.
Kiffin will remain the offensive coordinator at Alabama throughout the college football playoff. Their first game is the Peach Bowl against Washington on December 31st.
