Cam Newton visits 10-year-old Auburn fan battling heart condition

Thanks to former Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton, we have the greatest moment in sports you will see today.

The former Auburn and current Carolina Panthers star quarterback stopped by a hospital in Atlanta to make the wish of a young Tigers superfan come true.

10-year-old Taylor Deckard is battling a severe heart condition, advanced pulmonary hypertension, and his dream was to meet the former Auburn standout. Deckard “wished Cam Newton could come to his birthday party” and Newton made that wish come true with a visit on Tuesday afternoon.

You can watch the touching meeting between the two below, which includes the biggest bear hug from Deckard who couldn’t believe his favorite player was there to see him.

The meeting came to fruition thanks to a social media campaign from Lakewood Elementary school teacher Courtney Cooper.

“Austin may not ever make it to an Auburn football game but I know social media is a strong force that can make things happen,” Cooper wrote on Facebook. “Let’s use it for something positive and spread this like wildfire and somehow, someway get the word to Cam Newton and give this precious little boy his wish.”

It’s great to see that the message made its way to Newton and that the star quarterback went out of his way to share such a special moment that will have a lasting impact on Deckard.
