Friday’s final bowl game and the nightcap of ESPN’s triple-header is the biggest game of the 2016 college football bowl season to date as the Florida State Seminoles and Michigan Wolverines clash in the Orange Bowl in Miami.
It is a top ten matchup between two programs that had national title hopes in 2016, so finishing out the season with a big win would salvage what was otherwise a letdown after falling short of the College Football Playoff.
Florida State stumbled early in the season against Louisville and North Carolina which cost them a shot at the ACC Championship, but they were able to haul off four straight wins to end the regular season, including a dominant win over the rival Florida Gators.
Michigan, meanwhile, fell just short of the Big Ten Championship game after losing a thriller to Ohio State in the regular season finale. Were it not for dropping two of their last three games, the No. 6 Wolverines would have had the opportunity to compete for a national title in the postseason.
