USF football assistants to split Willie Taggart’s bowl win bonus

Current members of the USF football coaching staff will receive a nice little gift to close out 2016.

After the Bulls were able to top the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Birmingham Bowl on Thursday afternoon to finish the year with a program record 11-wins, it was announced that a $25,000 bowl win bonus which was in former head coach Willie Taggart’s contract will now be split among the Bulls assistants.

Taggart did not coach the team’s bowl game, because he left USF to accept the head coach job at Oregon.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, nine USF assistants will be splitting the bonus which averages out to around $2,800 apiece on top of any bonuses they were already contracted to.

This could be a nice send off to the Bulls assistants who will not be retained on the coaching staff of new head coach Charlie Strong.

USF defeated South Carolina, 46-39, in overtime.
