In November, California become the latest state to legalize recreational marijuana consumption for adults.
To ring in the new year, it looks like someone was ready to celebrate the occasion as they made the trip up to the famed Hollywood sign, according to CBS Los Angeles.
A person was able to get to the sign and modified it to read “Hollyweed,” an ode to prankster Danny Finegood, who famously altered the sign to read “Hollyweed” on Jan. 1, 1976. The prank back then was to honor the state’s lax marijuana laws.
With recreational marijuana now legal, it was an appropriate time to make the change again.
And hey, stoners always have been creative.

Unfortunately, whoever made the journey to modify the sign could face a misdemeanor charge if they are identified. According to Sgt. Trudeau of Security Services, there is surveillance video available.
What a way to ring in the new year.
