First baby born in Chicago in 2017 is named Wrigley

Boy, this family must love chewing gum.
2016 was a big year for the Chicago Cubs and their loyal, if beleaguered fanbase. Winning the World Series after over a century of futility, it took the Cubbies another couple months to get what they really wanted: a baby named after their ballpark.

Born at 12:12 A.M. on Jan. 1, the first baby in Chicago was named “Wrigley Rose”
The new parents were already planning to name the baby Wrigley before the Cubs won the World Series.
Wrigley Field is the second-oldest active ballpark in the country and has been home to some incredible moments in baseball history. It wasn’t until last year that it housed the worlds best baseball team for any length of time. Perhaps the most heavily favored underdogs in recent memory, the Cubs overcame the trappings of mental errors and choke-jobs that denied them glory for so many decades.
Congratulations to the new parents and their new baby. She signals the beginning of a new generation who won’t know the Cubs as “lovable losers.”
