The Oregon football program is reportedly set to hire the father of one of the top quarterback recruits in the Class of 2019.
After it was initially reported that he would join Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan, it is now being learned that former 49ers assistant and UCLA offensive coordinator Michael Johnson will be joining the Ducks.
Johnson, the father of top 2019 recruit Michael Johnson Jr., was unable to complete his move to Michigan due to NCAA rules.
Michigan already had filled its allotment of assistant coaches.
Johnson Sr. will now serve as the Ducks wide receivers coach, according to Sam Webb of Michigan Insider.
Johnson Jr. is currently star at The King’s Academy in Sunnyvale, Calif. and is ranked as the top dual-threat quarterback in his class according to 247 Sports.
