2017 Daytona 500 Results: Complete Finishing Order
The 2017 NASCAR season is officially underway, with the biggest race of the season in the books.
On Sunday afternoon, the 59th running of the Daytona 500 took place with Kurt Busch coming away as the big winner.
It wasn’t easy, however.
As the race went on, drivers were beginning to get more aggressive and the final 100 laps featured numerous crashes that took out some of the race’s top drivers.
Pole winner Chase Elliott was in command for the final portion of the race, but issues with fuel caused him to fall from first place. That’s when the race opened up and gave Busch the opening for the win.
This year’s “Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing” featured a new format, with the race being broken in to “stages.” During the stages, top finishers had the opportunity to secure points. Each stage had its own winner, with Kyle Busch getting off to a hot start.

Stage 2 of the race belonged to Kevin Harvick.

During Stage 2, fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. was out front and appeared to be gaining control of the race, before Stage 1 winner Kyle Busch suddenly lost control and caused a pile up.
The crash involved Earnhardt, effectively ending his chance at a triumphant return to the track.
