Penn State's Garrett Sickels Raises $7,000 For Charity At NFL Combine

Penn State defensive end Garrett Sickels had a successful outing at the 2017 NFL Combine.
Sickels teamed up with Uplifting Athletes for the combine and pledged to donate money for every rep he put up on the bench press. When it was all said and done, Sickels recorded 20 reps to raise $6,953 to raise money for research into rare diseases.
“I was honored to be an Uplifting Athletes Letterman and part of the leadership team for the Penn State Chapter. I participated in Lift for Life every summer that I was on campus,” Sickles wrote on his campaign page for the cause.
“This was a very important part of my PSU life and experience, and that is why I’ve chosen to launch my Reps for Research campaign for Uplifting Athletes in support of the rare disease community.”

Sickels was initially hoping to raise $250 per rep for a $5,000 donation, but his campaign surpassed his own expectations and the pledge per rep jumped to $347.65.
It’s great to see that Sickels not only helped himself in Indianapolis, but also found a way to help those who need it most.
