When Duke takes on Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament Final on Saturday evening in Brooklyn, it could very well impact the top seeds entering March Madness.
The Blue Devils are currently projected to earn a No. 2 seed, according to ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi, but there are many who have been speculating that winning the conference championship could be enough to bump Duke up to a No. 1 seed.
Two prominent college basketball reporters discussed the possibility on social media.
CBS Sports’ Seth Davis began the discussion when he sent out this tweet:
Are we totally sure if Duke wins today they can't be a 1 seed? Would have 8 top 25 wins and two wins over UNC. Never been a 1 with 8 losses.

That’s a very impressive resume for Duke, but as Davis points out, will the eight regular season losses keep them from getting a top spot?
Well, not according to Doug Gottleib, who believes the Blue Devils should be a No. 1 seed with a win on Saturday.
Here is the problem w/ how we do this. Duke should be a 1 seed if they win– 1 of 4 best teams through brutal schedule/season –1– https://t.co/erV9v7XRqY

It’s hard to argue that.
Duke may not have been as consistent as we are used to in recent years under Coach K, but they are closing out the season strong. After defeating Louisville and North Carolina to reach the finals, capping it off with another win over a ranked team will certainly give the selection committee something to think about.
