Georgetown basketball coach John Thompson III has reportedly been fired from his position, according to multiple reports on Thursday afternoon.
The news was first reported by SB Nation’s Casual Hoya.
The decision comes on the heels of back-to-back losing seasons for Georgetown. Throughout his 13-year career leading the Hoyas, Thompson coached the team to a 278-151 overall record.
This season the Hoyas went 14-18, finishing ninth in the Big East with a 5-13 conference record.
The Hoyas were bounced from the Big East Tournament in the first round by St. John’s.
Georgetown has not officially commented on the reports and there is conflicting news over whether Thompson was fired or offered his resignation.
