VIDEO: Goldberg Says Emotional Goodbye To The WWE…For Now

|

It’s the week to kind of retire, isn’t it? After news broke that Tony Romo would be leaving the the football field for the broadcast booth, legendary wrestler Goldberg announced his retirement from the world of professional wrestling…for now.

Goldberg left the door open to make a return to the ring by saying “you never know what I’m going to do next.”

While his recurring appearances on the long running WWE Raw has come to an end, Goldberg’s unique presence in the world of wrestling will continue to echo.

While announcing his retirement, there were several moments that warmed the heart of every wrestling fan that watched Goldberg growing up. Remember when he gave Bret Hart a concussion? I guess that’s a weird thing to get nostalgic about.

The full speech from a fan in attendance can be seen here:

But his retirement speech also provided a wealth of awkward and uncomfortable moments; mostly as a result of having his son in the ring while he announced it. I totally get it, this is a sentimental moment for a man who devoted his life to being bruised up and thrown around so that he can provide that kid. But, goodness, might have been better served not making him climb onto the ropes and lift his arm like his pop did back in the day.

You already had to tell him to bow earlier, maybe he didn’t get the showman gene.

Goldberg was the man back in the day, a larger than life personality whose dominance and prowess will be missed.
