Wichita State appears to finally be getting their wish.
The Shockers have been seeking a tougher conference in recent years and Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports reports members of the American Athletic Conference (AAC) are preparing for Wichita State to join the conference for the 2017-18 season.
Wichita State would serve as a non-football member of the conference.

The addition of the Shockers would give the AAC 12 basketball members, to go along with its 12 football programs.
While it would be a positive move forward for the Shockers, it would serve as a big blow for the Missouri Valley Conference — which has been Wichita State’s home since 1945.
Wichita State has been a powerhouse in the MVC, winning five of the last six regular season championships. The Shockers have reached the NCAA Tournament for six consecutive years, with one Final Four appearance.
