Pittsburgh Steelers Owner Dan Rooney Dies At Age 84

The football world lost a legend on Thursday when it was announced that Dan Rooney has passed away at the age of 84.
Rooney is the Hall of Fame owner and chairman of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rooney is the son of Steelers founding owner Art Rooney, and father of the team’s current owner Art Rooney II.
The Steelers confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon.

Along with leading the Steelers to remarkable success on the field, Rooney made a major impact around the league. Rooney inspired the league’s “Rooney Rule” which requires teams to interview at least one minority coach in an effort to give those coaches more opportunities to rise to the top of the coaching world.
Rooney was also influential off the field, with President Barack Obama naming him United State Ambassador to Ireland.
RIP Dan Rooney, the football world will miss you.
