The Penn State football program’s 2018 recruiting class took a major hit on Sunday evening.
Five-star defensive end Micah Parsons, who is the No. 3 overall player in the nation according to 247 Sports, announced he would be decommitting from James Franklin’s program and reopening his commitment.
“I am officially decommitting from Penn State,” Parsons wrote.
“I would like to thank the coaches and the fans for everything they have done for me, but I feel like this is the best decision for me and my family. They are still one of my top schools, but I just feel like I committed too soon and I need to focus on this upcoming football season.”
Parsons is the No. 1 defensive end in the Class of 2018 and the top player in the state of Pennsylvania, as well.
With Parsons reopening his commitment after visiting Ohio State for the Spring Game over the weekend, many people in recruiting circles believe that Columbus is on his mind.
