How do you build a winning franchise? Hard work, unselfish play, tipping generously. It’s the recipe that has led Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs to unparalleled 20 years of success.
His pedagogy was on full display when the bill came for his $815.73 meal; I’m guessing there were no free refills.
Pop went ahead and blessed the server’s day with an eye-popping $5,000 tip. The server must have been really good at making sure the water glasses were always full.
Here’s a photo of the receipt, via reddit:
Pop is currently locked in a tight series with coach Dave Fizdale and the Memphis Grizzlies; 2-2. Tuesday’s matchup will be at the AT&T Center in San Antonio and is critical for both sides. In a best of four series, the winner of game five is usually the one who moves on to the next round.
Pop and his well trained and disciplined team won’t be an easy out though. They’re a playoff tested bunch who won’t cave under the pressure. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have managed to put together successful seasons in the past, only to be ousted when the second-season rolls around.
With this kind of tipping, he’s keeping everyone around him chubby and giggling.
