Big Papi has is officially a college grad. Thanks to his ability to slug the long-ball and drive in runs, David Ortiz has earned a degree.
After one of the most prolific careers in Boston Red Sox history (and that’s saying something!), Boston Univeristy honored the former MLB star with an honorary diploma.

Ortiz retired last season after a 20 year career in the Major Leagues. The majority of his time was spent with the Red Sox, though the beginning of his career was spent with the Minnesota Twins.
After being released by the Twins in 2002, he caught on with the Red Sox in 2003 and the rest was history.
In addition to his baseball career, Ortiz has done endless amounts of charitable work for the Boston community, as well as his native Dominican Republic. After the tragic bombing during the Boston Marathon, Ortiz delivered a heartfelt and emotional speech that helped galvanize the city of Boston.
During his commencement speech, Ortiz clearly tries to fight back a smile. Congratulations to David Ortiz. His next honor will likely be held in Cooperstown, New York.
