The Auburn Tigers had a disappointing season last year. A program that has become accustomed to winning at a high level isn’t likely to be pleased with an 8-5 finish.
This year, they’re looking to intimidate their opponents in every way imaginable; that includes the football itself.
On Thursday, the university released a new design they intend to have printed on the footballs they will use throughout the 2017 season.
In addition to the schools traditional “AU” logo, they will have their alternate logo printed as well: the eyes of a tiger.
This year, Auburn draws Georgia Southern in the opening week, then its off to the races against primo opponents. They will play Clemson on Sept. 9. Clemson won’t be the force it was last year as a National Champion, but the battle of Tigers should still make for a compelling game.
They’ll begin their treacherous SEC schedule on Sept. 23 against Missouri. From there, they’ll only play one more game out of conference the rest of the season.
The last game on their schedule is against Alabama, who will undoubtedly remain in the College Football Playoff conversation at that point.
