The Syracuse and Western Michigan football programs have come to terms for a home-and-home series in consecutive years.
Syracuse will travel to Waldo Stadium to open the 2018 season which will mark the first meeting between the two teams. Western Michigan will return the favor in September of 2019 when they travel to New York and play Syracuse at home.
In a statement released by Syracuse Athletic Director John Wildhack ,he expressed his excitement and enthusiasm for the series in an officially released statement on Monday.
“We have a great deal of respect for Western Michigan and the Mid-American Conference. Western Michigan has a long history of success. We look forward to a competitive series.”
Western Michigan appeared to be a program on the rising under coach P.J. Fleck. After a 2016 season that saw the Broncos win a program best 13 games, he accepted a position with the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Prior to last season, the program had never managed to post a win total in the double-digits.
