FAU Football: Leading Receiver Kalib Woods Dismissed After Battery Charges

The FAU football program lost some depth at wide receiver this week.
According to reports, senior wide receiver Kalib Woods, who led the Owls in receiving last season, has been dismissed from the team after two felony battery charges were issued against him.
The news comes from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and reportedly stemmed from a January incident.
“We are aware of the matter with Kalib Woods,” FAU said in a statement. “He was suspended from the team on Tuesday and will remain suspended pending the outcome of the charges.”
From Owl Access:

A source familiar with the arrest tells OwlAccess.com the arrest stems from a fight in a local bar about a girl and that Woods originally denied he was at the establishment.

Last season, Woods had 68 receptions for 934 yards and a touchdown. The receptions and yardage marks were more than three times the numbers the team’s second leading receiver, Tavaris Harrison, was able to record.
Woods was a team captain in 2016, so this will also impact the Owls in a leadership aspect.
