The Kentucky football program landed a big time commitment this weekend.
On Saturday, four-star safety Keontra Smith took to social media to announce he has committed to the Wildcats as a member of the Class of 2019, despite offers from a number of top-tier Power Five programs.
Smith, who is one of the top high school football players in the state of Florida, announced his decision with a statement on social media.
“First and foremost, I would like to honor and thank God for all of the blessings and gifts he has sent my family and myself,” Smith wrote on Twitter. “I would like to thank my family, my coaches and my teammates for supporting me in pursuing my dream and pushing me to go harder. “While I continue to focus on my future plans, I would like to announce that I am committed to the University of Kentucky.”
According to 247 Sports, Smith is the No. 5-ranked safety in the nation and the No. 9 overall recruit in the state of Florida.
