It’s one of the most overdone impressions that exists. Partly because of how iconic the person is, but mostly because it’s such an easy impression to do.
Even as a first attempt, Arnold Schwarzenegger makes such clear and peculiar vocal choices that it lends itself to impressions.
Part of it is his accent, that’s only a part of the equation. Schwarzenegger can also be found doing a lot of abrupt and urgent yelling. That’s what Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wanted to do an impression of.
A video he posted on his Instagram page showed him attempting to pay homage to the action film legend.
But, it’s the thought that counts.

Nailed it. Enjoy me completely butchering my best @schwarzenegger impersonation while rehearsing on set of #Rampage. When I was a kid Arnold was one of my heroes. And when I first started in Hollywood, he was one of the biggest stars on the planet and was so supportive and welcoming to me, when he didn't have to be. First time we had dinner he said, "You can take the brass ring to places it's never been before" in his iconic accent which clearly I suck at. 15 long hard working years later, here I am. Grateful. This one's for you brother. #YoBigDawg #OnSet #Rampage 💪🏾
The Rock isn’t an impressionist, so a terrible impression isn’t the biggest surprise in the world. All the same, pretty bad. Good for him for recognizing it and having a laugh at his own expense though.
The film he was on set for, Rampage, is based on the classic video game by the same name and is set to release in 2018.
