With a name like Taco Charlton, everyone could see this coming for miles.
On Tuesday, the newest first-round selection of the Dallas Cowboys came to terms with Tex-Mex restaurant Taco Bueno. Fitting, considering the headline on the Dallas Morning News the night after the draft read “Taco Bueno,” a not so subtle reference to both.
Charlton is now the spokesman and face of the restaurant chain; and all because of his name.
Evidenced in a statement from the CEO of the Taco Bueno restaurant, there appears to be nothing but excitement on securing such an aptly named athlete to promote their brand.
“At the heart of any good partnership is authenticity and genuine respect,” CEO Mike Roper said in a statement. “Taco is serious about football, and we are serious about Tex-Mex, and that is a winning combination. We couldn’t be more excited to bring some fun to all our fans this upcoming football season.”
Charlton is also has a deal in place that makes him one of the promoters of Big Red soda. If he is able to add a desert and appetizer to his endorsement portfolio, he will represent all phases of a horribly balanced dinner.
Charlton parlayed an impressive college career, and a remarkably fun name into a first round selection an endorsement contract. Good business savvy, even better first name.
