Phil Jackson’s time with the New York Knicks is likely coming to an end.
According to multiple reports on Wednesday morning, the Knicks are expected to fire Jackson from his position as team president. A decision on Jackson’s future could become official as early as this morning.
ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne was first to report the news.
The move would end a disastrous four-year relationship between Jackson and the Knicks, with the team failing to reach the postseason. The decision is reportedly being influenced by those close to owner James Dolan, who has people suggesting cutting ties with Jackson is the right move.
Jackson’s potential firing also comes after he fielded trade offers for Kristaps Porzingis, one of the only bright spots on the Knicks roster.
I guess that’s what happens when you try to trade away the future.
