Steve Spurrier will be remembered for his indelible contributions to college football.
After becoming Florida’s first Heisman trophy winning quarterback, Spurrier went on to put together a legendary coaching career. Between head coaching stints at Duke, Florida and South Carolina, Spurrier amassed an impressive 228-89 record, and a National Championship in 1996 with the Gators.
But perhaps his most notable contribution is to the season before the season. Or as Spurrier so aptly named it, the “talkin’ season.” The talkin’ season is the point in time between July and the end of August before the football season kicks off.
Coaches talk about their team, about how much potential exists, but don’t really say much of anything. Talkin’ season.
So what better way to get the SEC Media Days, the “Super Bowl of Talkin’ Season” started than a narrated video from the Head Ball Coach himself.
It's Talkin' Season.
And we're talkin' football. All day.

Spurrier could still be coaching in the SEC if he really wanted to. After leaving South Carolina in 2015, he hasn’t gone back into coaching. Good thing, because if he had, he’d be another coach engaging in the talkin’ season, rather than lampooning it.
Who’s ready for the actual season to get started?
