South Carolina Football Recruit Promises To Never Lose To Clemson

The rivalry between Clemson and South Carolina appears due for a resurgence in intensity and popularity. That is, of course, if new dual-threat quarterback Kereon Joyner has anything to do about it.
The new Gamecocks recruit took to social media to tell South Carolina fans that they’ll “never lose to Clemson” as long as he is their starting quarterback.

The second part kind of makes it seem like a personal vendetta, though. It appears Joyner wanted to go to Clemson initially, and the offer never materialized.
It’s been tough for South Carolina fans in recent years. After dominating the series with five consecutive victories from 2009-2013, things have become very one-sided in favor of Clemson. The Tigers have won the past three meetings, and finished off the Gamecocks in a 56-7 laugher in 2016.
The Gamecocks will have as good a chance as ever to knock of their bitter in-state rival this season, though. After winning the National Championship last year, the Tigers suffered massive casualties to the draft and graduation. The Gamecocks have struggled in general recently, and haven’t posted a double-digit win season since 2013.
With second-year head coach Will Muschamp at the helm, a victory over Clemson would be huge.
Maybe he should play Joyner, if only for that single game. They’re bound to win, he guaranteed it on the internet.
