Bill O'Brien Impressed By Deshaun Watson In Training Camp So Far

It couldn’t be earlier in the NFL season. We haven’t even gotten the chance to ignore preseason games, but already Deshaun Watson is impressing the Houston Texans coaching staff.
After taking Watson with their first-round pick in the 2017 draft, it appears he’s doing everything in his power to win the job out of training camp.
Coach Bill O’Brien was as complimentary as can be when discussing the franchise quarterback hopeful.

Watson is currently listed as second on the depth chart behind Tom Savage, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Savage has appeared in only five games in his career, and has started only two. He holds a 1-1 record in those two games, and gave Texan coaches enough to believe he could be their guy moving forward.
All the same, the writing is on the wall for Savage. If Watson doesn’t take the job by week one of the season, he’ll likely be there by the end of the year. The ideal scenario is that Savage plays wonderfully, boosts his value tremendously, and the Texans are able to move him for a number of draft picks to a QB needy team looking to hit the jackpot.
O’Brien was clear to note that Savage remains the start on the team, but that Watson is doing everything the right way in camp and is only closing the gap between himself and the first team offense.
