Fans can finally have a look at the now infamous Conor McGregor-Paulie Malignaggi sparring sessions.
On Friday night, following McGregor’s Media Day at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas, UFC president Dana White took to social media to release two brief clips from Malignaggi’s time in McGregor’s camp.
In the first video, Malignaggi can be seen in a defensive stance while McGregor unloads.
While there are a number of powerful shots that do land, a majority of the blows glance off of Malignaggi’s gloves and shoulders.
The second video, however, is a bit more interesting.
The “knock down” photo that sparked Malignaggi’s rants and exit from McGregor’s camp was finally shown, and it definitely doesn’t look like the “push” Malignaggi claimed it to be.
So what do you say?
It’s hard to tell from two brief clips how the sparring sessions actually went. Malignaggi himself admitted McGregor got the best of him early, but as the later rounds came Malignaggi claims to have been the UFC champ’s superior. We may never know who is truly telling the truth.
But what it does show is that McGregor was able to land clean shots on a former boxing champ.
Can he do it against Mayweather? That’s the question we will all see answered on Aug. 26 when the two men face off at T-Mobile Arena.
