The DePaul basketball program is getting a head start on its Class of 2020.
This week, the Blue Demons earned a commitment from Amari Bailey, who is an eighth grader at Mark T. Skinner West Elementary School.
Bailey announced his commitment through the Twitter account Meanstreets.
“I am staying home,” Bailey said in a statement referenced on the Twitter account. “I verbally commit to DePaul. I’ve always wanted to play for my city and I’m not too young to know that I wanna put on for my city.”

Bailey is no stranger to the spotlight, either. The 6-foot-2 guard is featured on the Lifetime reality series “Bringing Up Ballers,” along with his mom Johanna Leia.
Looking at the mixtape from his seventh grade year, it’s easy to see why he could be remaining in that spotlight for the foreseeable future.
