The Miami football team has named its starting quarterback for the 2017 season.
On Tuesday, the Hurricanes announced redshirt junior Malik Rosier will line up under center for the season-opener against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 2.
“Malik has been named the starting quarterback,” head coach Mark Richt said in a statement. “Evan (Shirreffs) is currently number two on the depth chart. The young guys, N’Kosi Perry and Cade Weldon, will continue to learn and compete.”
Rosier has one previous start in his career, leading MIami to a 30-27 victory over Duke.
Throughout his career, Rosier has thrown for 370 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 63 yards and a score on the ground.
Kickoff for Miami’s opener is set for 12:30 p.m. ET.
