Auburn Fooball: Asa Martin Chooses Tigers Over Alabama

The Auburn football program has scored big on the recruiting trail, landing one of the nation’s top running backs over in-state rival Alabama.

On Thursday, four-star running back Asa Martin announced in a commitment video on that he will be joining the Tigers in the Class of 2018. The Austin High (Decatur, Ala.) standout is currently ranked the No. 7 overall player in his state.

For Martin, the decision to choose the Tigers came down to being a natural fit.

“The feeling of playing in front of your home state will be a good thing,” he told the media. “They have a great offense. I felt like I fit into the offense pretty well. They kind of run the same stuff we’re running here at Austin.”

Auburn opens its 2017 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Georgia Southern.
