A fan favorite could be on the way back. On the first major weekend of the 2017 college football season, PlayStation teased the release of a fan-favorite: NCAA Football.
Maybe.
Take a look at the ad and decide for yourself:
Yeah, I'm totally not going to overreact to this Playstation commercial with Urban + Harbaugh potentially being about a new NCAA Football pic.twitter.com/IOwZdcfDdq

NCAA Football was last made in 2014 by EA Sports. The franchise folded after disputes of player likeness made it impossible to continue production. It’s worth noting that the ad doesn’t have an EA trademarks.
It remains possible that the game is being produced by a company other than EA, but they would certainly face the same player likeness issues that ultimately caused EA to close up shop.
Reached out to Sony for comment but there’s a ~1% chance there’s a new NCAA Football property. No EA trademarks in the ad #rovelltweet

It’s hard to decide what PlayStation is driving at with this ad if a new title isn’t on the way. Only time will tell. A new title won’t be released this year, with the game historically released about a month before the season starts.
If there is a new title in the works, it would be before the 2018 season.
