It’s early in the football season, but some players already appear to be in midseason form. Wyoming cornerback Rico Gafford is one of them.
In the Cowboys opening season game against the Iowa Hawkeyes, he provided his team with an early boost.
This is why you practice the tip drill:

The Hawkeyes are favorites to beat Wyoming handily. At the time of this post, the score remains scoreless early in the second quarter. If the Cowboys can continue to make plays on defense, they might be able to squeak out an upset victory.
Iowa struggled with playing down to their opponent last season. They lost to North Dakota State, but managed to beat Michigan and Nebraska. If they can’t protect the ball better against the Cowboys, their season might get off on the wrong foot.
This is supposed to be a softer opening to what figures to be a tough Big Ten schedule this season. It’s early, and there are kinks to work out, but an opening week loss would be devastating.
