On Sunday, the Florida State football team received the news that starting quarterback Deondre Francois would miss the remainder of the 2017 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in the Seminoles’ season opener against Alabama.
When discussing the impact of his injury, ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum had less than encouraging remarks for Florida State moving forward.
During an appearance on SportsCenter, Finebaum said that Francois’ injury leads to hurdles that head coach Jimbo Fisher and company are not going to be able to overcome.
In essence, Finebaum declared the Seminoles season over.

“I think they’re done,” Finebaum said. “I don’t see them coming back and winning out, which I think they would probably have to do, without him.”
Of course, a good team would be able to call on the next man up and continue pushing forward. Whether freshman James Blackman is capable of stepping in and lead the Seminoles offense without missing a step remains to be seen, but his first challenge will be a winnable matchup.
Florida State returns to action at home on Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
After Saturday’s game against Louisiana-Monroe, things will get much tougher for Blackman and the Seminoles as they take on ACC and in-state rival Miami on Saturday, Sept. 16.
