The Minnesota football team has unveiled an incredible alternate helmet that will be worn this weekend when the Golden Gophers welcome the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders to Minneapolis.
Minnesota is celebrating a special occasion on Saturday — the birthday of Goldy the mascot — so they’re busting out the new threads.
Along with wearing all gold uniforms for the first time, the special helmet is unlike anything we’ve seen from the Gophers before. On one side of the helmet, your classic block “M” logo will be featured, while the other side has a giant cartoon portrait of Goldy’s face.
They’re pretty spectacular.

As for the full uniform, Goldy came out to show off the all-gold look to the team.

The Golden Gophers and Blue Raiders are set to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.
