Selena Gomez Received Kidney Transplant From Close Friend

Last year, Selena Gomez revealed she had been diagnosed with the auto-immune disease lupus. While battling the disease, Gomez underwent a number of treatments, including chemotherapy.
On Thursday morning, Gomez took to social media to drop a bit of a bombshell that explains why she has been relatively quiet throughout the summer.
Gomez revealed she underwent a kidney transplant over the summer as part of her treatment and has since been focusing on recovering to full health. In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Gomez revealed her close friend Francia Raisa was the one who donated her kidney.
“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me,” Gomez wrote.
“I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made.”
