With a number of natural disasters in recent weeks, and the college football season in full swing, there are a bevy of tributes and throwback uniforms in Week 4.
Uniforms have evolved so much that ESPN has dedicated a Saturday morning segment to the special uniforms teams will wear each and every weekend.
The Cal Golden Bears are playing host to inter-state and inter-conference rival USC this week. They’ll pay tribute to former quarterback Joe Roth, who died of melanoma just three months after taking his final snap as the Golden Bears quarterback. His no. 12 is the only one retired by the Cal program.

Returning to action for the first time since Hurricane Irma devoted everything in it’s path, the University of Miami and Florida State University will be wearing decals featuring the state of Florida on their uniforms.
Cleanup in Florida is ongoing. Florida State is struggling out of the blocks against NC State and went into the half trailing by a touchdown. Miami kicks off at 3:30 against the Akron Zips.
Fellow ACC squad Virginia Tech is honoring the troops this week with a special Military Appreciation helmet.

It goes against their usually color scheme, but is a striking look. In addition to the obvious color changes on the helmet, there are also American flag decals on the back of each helmet.
But as sick as the Virgina Tech uni’s look, they’re up against stiff competition in the style department this week. (Even if they should run wild on the field). They figure to tee off against Old Dominion, but who has the dopest duds will be determined in the court of public opinion. Who you got?

Meanwhile, the Arkansas Razorbacks are wearing Dallas Cowboy’s inspired uniforms while playing Texas A&M.
Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys and Arkansas alumnus went into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year. If you ask me, they look more like Ohio State uniforms than Dallas Cowboys uniforms.
Different uniforms, patches, decals, and the like have become as much a part of college football as pageantry and marching bands. Each week a number of teams roll out new looks, and this week has some of the best we’ve seen so far this season.
