When the Minnesota football team takes the field at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon, it will have a fresh new look.
This week, the Golden Gophers unveiled some brand new all-white “Salute To Service” helmets that will be worn when the team takes on the Maryland Terrapins.
The helmets feature the logo of the Minnesota National Guard, along with a logo for the USS Minnesota. Down the center of the helmet are additional logos that “recognize a unit or subsection of the Minnesota National Guard,” according to a release.

Along with the special helmets, Golden Gophers fans donated 544 tickets to military personnel as part of Minnesota’s Salute to Service initiative.
Kickoff between Minnesota and Maryland in Minneapolis is set for noon ET on FOX Sports 1.
