The Cleveland Browns appeared to have a pretty good draft in 2017. Could the NFL’s most laughable franchise be on he ascent?
If they manage to snag Penn State football star Saquon Barkley in the upcoming draft, it’ll be hard to argue that they’re not. Of course, that’s if he falls far enough for them to land him.
They’re certainly interested in the Nittany Lions running back.
Barkley’s rare combination of power and speed is potent. He can run around you, through you, or away from you. It’s no wonder the Cleveland fanbase is entertaining the idea of him toting the rock in a Browns uniform next season.
A potential pairing of Barkley and current Browns running back Duke Johnson would be as good a one-two punch as there is in the NFL.
The Browns traveled to watch Barkley play on Saturday, according to USA TODAY Sports, and they immediately received a treat. He took the opening kickoff back 98-yards for a touchdown to give Penn State the lead.
The Buffalo Bills were also on hand, presumably to watch Barkley work his magic against opposing defenses.
Penn State has other notable players to watch, such as safety Marcus Allen, linebacker Jason Cabinda and tight end Mike Gesicki. It’s possible they could be there to watch one of those prospects. Barkley is obviously the main attraction though, and for two teams that will likely be picking in the top 10, he is undoubtedly a potential target for them.
