Don’t look now, but it might not be long until Bradley Cooper is yelling “It’s me, Austin!” at a theater near you.
The mega-movie star is apparently in talks to appear as WWE commissioner Vince McMahon in the upcoming biopic titled Pandemonium.
Cooper has achieved superstar status after appearing in a string of box office and critical successes. He’s been nominated for three Oscars and has shown his versatility as both a comedic and dramatic actor. WWE Studios and TriStar are producing the film and want an A-list celebrity to play the lead role.
Cooper is currently tied to four other projects at the time. Deeper, Atlantic Wall, Avengers: Infinity War, and A Star Is Born are already on his schedule and could make adding a fifth title difficult to manage for logistical reasons.
However, ScreenRant.com is reporting that Cooper remains interested in the project. John Requa and Glenn Ficarra are tabbed to direct the film, and McMahon himself is currently listed as a producer on the project.
It begs the question what kind of biopic this will be. Will WWE fans get a light-hearted look at some of their favorite wrestlers portrayed by some of their favorite actors, and a few “behind-the-scenes” type moments? Or will it be a hard-hitting look at the life and business dealings that helped McMahon rise to the top of the world of professional wrestling?
Omitting some of the uglier details won’t sit well with purists who desire accuracy over pure entertainment.
