Dick Vitale Believes Louisville AD Tom Jurich Should Not Be Fired

Dick Vitale has been very vocal throughout the early stages of the FBI’s investigation into college basketball.
Shortly after the news broke, he left a voicemail on Rick Pitino’s phone telling him he should resign. But it appears he isn’t just out for blood.
On Tuesday, he tweeted his support of estranged Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich, who is currently onunpaid administrative leave from the university.

His advocacy of Jurich doesn’t come without backlash, of course. If for no other reason than a clean slate, many feel Jurich has to go.
As the investigation continues and Jurich’s status remains in limbo, expect his camp to grow louder. Jurich is on unpaid administrative leave, and the letter he received from the university specifically cited his $160 million agreement with adidas as a deciding factor in his fate.
While the news of Pitino’s termination has failed to illicit much outrage from Louisville fans, support for Jurich has been surprisingly deep.
With so much support for Jurich, interim-president Greg Postel is faced with the difficult decision of determining his fate. Both have their advantages and risk, but the more time passes without a decision, the harder that decision becomes.
