UPDATE (5:45 p.m. ET): NYPD officials say the driver of the truck stepped out of his truck with a BB gun and paintball gun before being apprehended by police officers. The suspect was shot in the abdomen before being transported to the hospital.

UPDATE (4:48 p.m. ET): The FBI has taken over the Lower Manhattan incident investigation and is treating it as a terrorist act. According to multiple media reports, the driver got out of his truck and shouted “Allahu Akbar” before being apprehended by police.
UPDATE (4:40 p.m. ET): An eye-witness claims the driver of the truck involved in the Lower Manhattan incident crashed his truck into the side of a school bus from Stuyvesant High School before coming to a complete stop.

UPDATE (4:20 p.m. ET): Two law enforcement officials say up to six people may be dead in the Lower Manhattan incident.
It is believed that the driver of the truck involved in the incident deliberately drove onto a bike path and then went 20 blocks south towards Chambers Street in New York City, striking pedestrians and bike riders along the way.
Police quickly apprehended the suspect and took them into custody.
Eye-witnesses say the suspect was shot in the leg before being transported to the hospital.
A shooting incident in Lower Manhattan took place on Tuesday afternoon.
Very few details are available at this time with the incident occurring within the hour, but information and first-hand accounts are beginning to pour out.
Multiple reports on social media state a man drove his truck through a cycling lane, before crashing the vehicle. Witnesses claim the driver of the vehicle then got out of the vehicle with what appeared to be a gun.
According to the eye witnesses, police quickly responded and shot at the suspect before taking him into custody.
Multiple people were injured in the incident, but their conditions and the extent of the injuries have yet to be reported. Social media reports indicate as many five could currently be injured.
