Cleveland Browns Doing Cleveland Browns Things Costs Team Points After Dumb Playcall

The Cleveland Browns traveled to Detroit to take on the Lions this weekend. It’s a winnable game for Cleveland, which is still searching for its first one this season.

The Browns planned on having more success after what was deemed a successful 2017 NFL Draft. That hasn’t materialized, and pla- calling like this isn’t going to help anyone.

With 15 seconds remaining on the clock in the first half and no timeouts left, the Browns shot themselves in the foot. Rather than kick the field goal and take the three-points, they burned the clock out on themselves.

A quarterback sneak up the middle results in no yards gained, as the clock runs out. Zero points scored for Cleveland.

The aggressiveness is understandable, but you would typically see a rollout pass, or a quick-strike to keep this kind of thing from happening.

The Lions defensive line was clearly aware of the situation and was leaning on the Browns as the clock ticked away.

This has been the season for Cleveland, summed up in one 15-second blunder. They’re headed for a top draft selection again, and plays like this are going to get them there.
