UW football star Azeem Victor has been suspended indefinitely.
On Wednesday, Washington head coach Chris Peterson announced that the preseason All-American linebacker has been suspended indefinitely following a DUI arrest over the weekend. Victor was arrested just after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
“We take these matters very seriously, and have suspended Azeem from our team indefinitely as we continue to gather details about this incident,” Petersen said in a statement, via The Seattle Times.
This season, Victor has recorded 30 tackles and two sacks.
For the immediate future, Victor will miss Saturday night’s game against the Utah Utes. The Huskies take on Washington State at home the following weekend, before potentially participating in the Pac-12 Championship.
While there is no word on when Victor will return to the field, you have to imagine he will suit up next weekend against the Cougars if the conference championship is in sight.
