Lane Kiffin and the FAU football program had a special visitor at practice this week.
On Wednesday afternoon, former New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi swung through Boca Raton to share some of his wisdom with the Owls players.
Girardi was discussing the importance of staying humble while winning and he certainly knows all about that thanks to helping the Yankees reach four World Series titles during his time with the franchise. Girardi won three championships as a player and one as a manager.
“What I took from him was, ‘Humble yourself or the game will humble you,'” Owls running back Devin Singletary said, via Chris Low of ESPN.com. “What that means is (with) us having all this success right now, don’t take none of this for granted … 7-4 and 8-3 are two totally different feelings.”
The Owls are currently 7-3.
Next up for Kiffin’s squad is a home game against FIU on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
