It was only a matter of time until Donald Trump and LaVar Ball began feuding in 2017, and it finally happened after Ball’s middle son, LiAngelo, was arrested for shoplifting in China.
Donald Trump tried to stroke his ego by taking full credit for the release of LiAngelo and his two UCLA teammates, while LaVar wasn’t having any of it.
As a result, Trump began going after Ball on social media.
It’s an absurd situation, so it was only natural that the Trump-Ball feud would find it’s way to late-night television. Enter Stephen Colbert.
Colbert providing his commentary on the entire situation which began when LaVar simply responded to a question about Donald Trump with the one word the president can’t stand: “Who?”
“Pretending not to know him is the meanest thing you can do to Donald Trump,” Colbert said. “Knowing who he is, is his whole thing. That’s why he puts his name on all of his buildings and one of his kids.”
