The Miami Hurricanes have made their living this season as the comeback kids of college football.
On the road and playing the day after Thanksgiving, the Canes went to the well one too many times. They fell to a vastly inferior Pittsburgh Panthers team.
The loss could very well knock them out of the top four in the College Football Playoff rankings. But with a game against fellow College Football Playoff hopeful Clemson closing out the season in the ACC Championship, hope is still alive.
Kirk Herbstet didn’t waste any time trying to temper the rage and anxiety felt by Miami fans who feared their season was over.
I wondered aloud for last 2 weeks how Canes would look away from home “a day after Thanksgiving at 4-7 Pitt”. Guess we got our answer. Still think they could get to the top 4 with win over Clemson in ACC Championship game.

The Hurricanes have managed to play down (or up) to their opponent all season. But Clemson poses a challenge unlike anything else they’ve seen this season.
They’re still headed for a bowl game regardless of the outcome, and it’s their first ten win season since winning the National Championship in 2003, so this year is already a success for them. But Clemson may prove they are at a different level than the Hurricanes.
