The Ole Miss football program quietly made a smart hire for the future while most of the college football world was focused on the dumpster fire in Knoxville.
On Sunday evening, the Rebels removed the interim label from Matt Luke and officially named him head coach.
The news was first reported by rebelgrove.com.
Luke served as interim head coach at Ole Miss for the 2017 season, replacing Hugh Freeze, who stepped down over the summer after it was revealed that he had made a call to an escort service from a university issued phone.
This season, Luke led the Rebels to a 6-6 record.
An introductory press conference for the new head coach will take place Monday morning at 11:30 a.m.
