The Miami football team suffered another blow on the offensive side of the ball Wednesday morning.
According to a report from the Miami Herald, sophomore Ahmmon Richards, the team’s second-leading wide receiver, was carted off the practice field after suffering an undisclosed injury.
Hurricanes head coach Mark Richt would not discuss the injury following practice.
This season, Richards, who was a freshman All-American last year, has hauled in 24 catches for 439 yards and three touchdowns. Richards hauled in 934 yards and three touchdowns during his freshman campaign, breaking Michael Irvin’s freshman school receiving record.
The news comes just days after senior tight end Christopher Herndon suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Hurricanes’ upset loss to Pitt last Friday.
Miami is preparing for its biggest game of the season, a Saturday night clash against top-ranked Clemson in the ACC Championship at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
